Herbert Rook Edwards (1894-1984) earned his M. A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1916. Two years later, he married Margaret Royalty (1895-1969), later the 13th Poet Laureate of Texas. The couple had one son and operated the Royalty family ranch near Gatesville.
